Conditions Treated

  • Mr Rhys Evans sees a wide range of conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat and neck in adults and children.
  • These symptoms may be of recent onset, may be chronic problems or patients may be wanting a second opinion.
  • Ear conditions include: deafness, earache, tinnitus, dizziness and vertigo, wax blockage, Eustachean tube problems, ‘glue ear’, otitis externa, perforations of the eardrum
  • Nose conditions include: nose bleeds (epistaxis), nasal blockage, deviated septum, nasal allergy, hay fever, polyps, sinusitis, facial pain, loss of smell.
  • Throat conditions include: tonsillitis and other causes of sore throat, difficulty with swallowing, halitosis, sensation of ‘lump in the throat’, hoarseness and other voice problems, acid reflux
  • With 30 years experience as Senior Head and Neck surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Mr Rhys Evans has vast experience in dealing with various benign and malignant tumours of the head and neck area, including lesions in the mouth, tongue, throat and voice box.
  • He has also had responsibility for treating various thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland problems and tumours, thyro-glossal cysts and retrosternal thyroids. Many of his publications relate to removal of the thyroid and sometimes nearby lymph glands.
  • Lumps in the neck are also a problem which need careful evaluation and investigation. Most of these are inflammatory, but occasionally these are due to lymphoma or an early sign of a tumour in the throat or tongue.
  • Skin lesions, skin cancers and subcutaneous swellings and cysts in the head and neck area.
